Figur. Li Bai. Qingdynastin
FIGUR. Earthenware figure of Li Bai with coloured lead glazes Qing dynasty, 19th-20th century. Li Bai (701-762) was one of China’s greatest poets, famous for the extravagant imagination of his verse and his love of alcohol. The unfortunate poet is said to have drowned in the Yangtze River, having fallen from his boat while drunkenly trying to embrace the reflection of the moon. Here he is depicted leaning against his wine jar, a popular choice of imagery in China.
