: Born in Delft in 1621, Beck later studied under Van Dyck in London 1640-41. After that he continued his education by travelling the vast courts of Europe for a couple of years before entering the service of Queen Christina as court painter in 1647. How Beck got in contact with the Swedish court is uncertain, but likely he met with Count Magnus Gabriel De La Gardie during his embassy in Paris 1646. Beck continued to work for Christina after her depature for Rome and accompanied her to Paris in 1656. Several of the original portraits painted by David Beck are now lost and only available to us as engravings, often crafted by the German artist Jeremis Falck., Titel: mästare
