Compare: Victoria & Albert Museum inv. No. CIRC.163-196. Porcelain coffee pot decorated in overglaze enamels with gilding Qing dynasty, c.1735 The coffee pot has a spout in the shape of an ostrich head, clearly a preference by European buyers, for ostriches did not exist in China. The handle, by contrast, is in the form of a crouching dragon whose claws branch into flower sprays round the pot.
