Bål. Yongzheng, Qing-dynastin.
Yongzheng, Qing-dynasty. Porcelain bowl with moulded relief and underglaze blue decoration Yongzheng period (1723-35) Although the bowl is fine it does not bear a reign mark, indicating the high quality achieved at private kilns in Jingdezhen during the Yongzheng period. On the outside two four-clawed dragons among clouds chase the flaming pearl, all in moulded relief against a painted background of waves. Inside is a precisely-painted landscape with a sage seated in a boat. The pursuit of fishing, and the open-sided hut with thatched roof nearby, are tropes for scholarly withdrawal, as is the simple mountain dwelling in the background.
