Text: Sir, I am directed by the Committee of the Athenaeum to invite you to the house of the Club for a period of one month. During that time you will be entitled to every privilege enjoyed by the Members, subject in common with them to its regulations. As the number of distinguished Foreigners who can in conformity with the rules of the Club, be admitted to its privileges at one time, is strictly limited, I am directed to request that you will inform me whether your engagements will permit you to avail yourself of this invitation, and if you should propose to leave London before the expiration of the term of one month that you will have the goodness to apprize me.
